Clearing and weeding ~TG02

So the slash and burn went well, we had a very fierce bonfire going there,
it continued to burn all night despite the rain.

All the combustible materials have gone there is rubble and plastic
stuff left to go to the tip when possible.

More of the rubble from the chimney stack

So then we had to start actually clearing land for planting, my assistant (Mark)
spent a day in the garden moving the rubble to a tidy pile and building
the fire pit and starting the digging.

First bit of clear ground – phew!

The we started digging – me after having done the shopping and a 4 mile walk
and wanting a little nap lol, but we soldiered on
and had more than a few laughs in the process.

Spud patch to be

2013-07-24 20.52.52

Nearly finished the spud patch

Mark and his lovely wife have gone off on holiday for a few days – the gardening
will start again soon, but we did get seeds in and potatoes are going
in to the newly cleared patch soon.

It is quite a fun thing to do with someone else, hate doing it alone.

Slash and Burn ~TG01

So, it started, the clearing of the back garden. There were years of accumuated kid rubbish, toys, shoes etc buried in the ground, next door neighbours kids throwing their crisp bags, pop cans and bottles over the fence. A complete mess, landlords builders removed chimney and dumped all the debris in the garden, resulting in a huge pile of bricks. Some concrete slabs which had disappeared under the undergrowth.

First we had to slash, and then burn. Love it felt like a Viking invader (sorry Sweden and other Nordic lands- no offense intended)

Quest for a Garden ~TG00

This all started because my landlord complained that the garden was a mess – quite right it was, what with training, work, mum’s housework and general caring duties not a lot of time for gardening.

The starting point, pictures taken just before 17:00 on 6th July 2013

So calls were made friends pitched in and a clear up was done.

Then a very special friend, who I would regard as a brother rather than a friend really decided to make it his mission that the garden would be cultivated and not just tidy. As he and his wife and I all try to eat healthily and I have a massive garden and he a small one my back garden has become an allotment.
