The Dreadmill ~TJ123

God help me but I went back to the gym and did a bit more on the infernal machine, feels so very awkward and as if there is more impact. All the rowing machines were taken/broken (as usual) so I had two goes on the dreadmill.

Horrible ‘young’ people ‘music’ blaring out all over the place, it even drowned out my headphones which were trying to play nice ‘old’ people music!

So I got on did a little warm up and then ran for about 5 minutes, tried a rowing machine – broken so went back on the treadmill – do a little interval I thought! Silly me, got over-excited. You know how you click something on a touch screen and nothing happens ? Then you click again and again……. so all of a sudden I went from 5.5 kmh to 7.00 kmh and was slipping about the place, hanging on for grim death and hit the stop button.

The stop button also was reluctant to accept my gentle caresses, so I went back to trying to decrease the speed with the minus button, that worked, this felt like hours but was only about a minute – did the interval then !

I understand the benefits of these machines, like I understand the necessity to pay tax but I don’t like doing either ! I will persevere because it is good for me to overcome fear of inanimate objects and irrational phobias, perhaps like running, I will come to love the things. Never say never.

My first 10K ~TJ97

Wow I feel great, I am sort of following the rules now, increase by 10% on last weeks workout/s.

Last Sunday was 5.2 miles of ralking (run/walk) so this Sunday needed to be 5.2 plus 0.52 = 5.72 pretty close to 10k. I think might as well do the extra little bit …. …….

My PB for a 5k was 50:05 at Llyn Llech Owain in a Parkrun event.

Today, at Mynydd Mawr, I did 5k in 45:04 (the course is flatter and less stony, about 80% tarmac, very much easier). I ran all the downhill bits and walked as fast as possible in between. There was 1.53 miles of running and 1.61 miles of walking in the 5k. Was feeling good, enjoying myself, very pleased with the time. So off I go for the 10% increase from last week, not much left to do.

I ended up doing 10k and managed to run most of the downhill bits, my end time was 1:37:37 for the 10k I was very very pleased with that. Overall today I have run for a total of 3.01 miles.

Now all I have to do is do it all together without the walking at Llyn Llech Owain!

After my first ever 10K

Parkrun 3 ~TJ90

Well an out and out disaster, got up really early, got ready, got all my stuff together and then got stuck behind the slowest driver in the world and was two minutes late  – time therefore was rubbish! It was coldish, foggy and damp. I was going to bale out half way round but decided against that.

As usual I was all alone with the back runner and we chatted as we trotted along and then it was over before I realised.

But on the plus side, I then did a mile and a quarter walk with my group. Afterwards I was going to walk slowly round the course and mark the hills on my phone with the digifit lap counter. So two leaders and two walkers decided to join me.

All told I have walked or run over 6 miles today am tired, had no money with me so no breakfast 😦
